The special people in your life will love to receive a lovely handcrafted vintage Valentine made especially for them on Valentines Day. Vintage Valentine cards can be so simple that a child can easily make them, or you can be creative and make a work of art that will long be cherished by the recipient.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red or pink construction paper or other sturdy paper
  • White or pink paper doilies
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Various decorations such as glitter, beads, buttons, stickers or sequins.
  • Marker
  1. Step 1

Fold a piece of paper in half, width-wise. Unfold it and glue a paper doily to the front. Don't worry if the doily hangs over the edge of the card, it will just add to the vintage appearance.

  2. Step 2

Cut out several paper hearts of varying sizes and glue them on top of the doily.

  3. Step 3

Embellish the Vintage Valentines Day card with glitter, beads, buttons, stickers, sequins, or any decorations of your choice.

  4. Step 4

Write the name of your valentine on the outside of the card and write a Valentines Day greeting inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • As a variation, cut a large heart out of either red or pink construction paper. Cut a slightly smaller heart from a contrasting color and glue it to the larger valentine. Glue a smaller, paper doily heart on top of the smaller heart. Layer as many hearts and doilies as you like.
  • Cut out hearts from red, white or pink tissue paper for a different, gauzy look.
  • For a particularly special valentine, try using real lace or rick-rack, available at any fabric store. Simply glue it to the card with craft glue.
  • Old-fashioned magazine photos make great embellishments. Cut them out and glue them to the front of the Vintage Valentine card with a glue stick.
