Encouraging participation in a Sunday School classroom is fairly simple. Start by instituting a reward system in the classroom and making learning fun for your students. Follow these tips to increase participation in your Sunday School classroom.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Start a reward system. Find ways to reward students for attendance, good behavior and participation. Tangible, enticing rewards often correlate with the students' interest and participation in lessons.
Step2
Incorporate games into lesson plans. Find ways to make learning fun so that children don't become bored or restless during classroom time. Interactive games are especially attractive to Sunday School students, as they are allowed to play with other students and learn at the same time.
Step3
Allow children to learn together. Forming groups or teams can help children learn particularly difficult lessons with the support of their peers. If the groups or teams are formed for competitive purposes (like for a game), students may approach learning with a zest to win.
Step4
Turn listening into a purposeful activity. Children are distractible and can easily have their attention diverted by any number of things. Periodically check their listening ability by having them participate in fun pop quizzes. Remember to reward the children so that they have incentives to keep listening and learning.
Step5
Encourage children to get to know each other. Forming friendships with other students can help them become comfortable, active and appreciative in their environment.
