You may have so much clutter piled up that it seems overwhelming. Ignoring the issue only makes it worse. It's time to tackle the clutter and clear it up for good. Here are some tips to help you clear the clutter in your home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Start in a small area. Make the project manageable by mentally dividing the space. Think about clearing out one small space before moving on to another area.
Step2
Label four bins, keep to display, put away, donate or throw away. Keepsake items that you want to put on a shelf or out in the open go in the first bin. Things that need to be filed or put away go into the second bin. Items you no longer use (or items that are no longer usable) but are still in good condition go into the third bin and trash.
Step3
Consider when you last used the item before throwing it into a keep bin. As a rule, if you haven't used it in the last 6 months, get rid of it. Remember that the goal is to clear the clutter not keep it.
Step4
Put items where they belong. Avoid procrastinating when it comes to the put-away pile. Keep the clutter from piling up again by setting up a clear organizational system.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask an organized friend to help you out. It's more fun to clear the clutter together.
