Things You'll Need:
- Determination
- A sense of humor
- Faith
- Perseverance
-
Step 1
Take control of your attitude. Your attitude can shape the outcome of many events in your life. If you are always looking at the negative side, it is likely that more negative events will occur. However if you look at the bright side, you are more likely to take positive action that will result in a better outcome.
-
Step 2
Remember that today is just a day, this week is just another week. What seems so very dramatic at this moment might not be as significant as you think. You probably won't feel as strongly about the situation a month from now. Time does have a way of changing things.
-
Step 3
Learn to take the bad with the good. It is all a part of life and there is no use dwelling on the bad. Focusing on everything that is good in your life is a healthier way to live.
-
Step 4
Spending time with loved ones or good friends can always help to improve your attitude. It can give you a chance to forget about your troubles for awhile. It can also provide the opportunity to get a different point of view from a trusted confidant.
-
Step 5
Looking back on my life, I can identify many very low times when I thought there was no way for things to get better. I can see now how a paricular situation was not as earth shattering as I though. My grandmother is very fond of saying "This too shall pass". She is a very wise and dear sole.

on 5/14/2009 You are so right about attitude! It is one thing that you can always change, even if you cannot change your circumstances.

on 8/6/2008 Great article! Being negative is an absolute waste of time and only serves to cause others to not want to be around you.
