There are many, many ways to make a centerpiece for a romantic dinner at home, This is just one of them that I like.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Container to put water in to freeze. (I have used a milk carton and it works just fine)
  • Roses or whatever you want to be frozen in the ice.
  • A nice platter or dish of some kind, shallow, but deep enough to hold the water when the ice melts.
  • Candle holders and candles.
  • something light for dinner and maybe for desert strawberrys and melted chocolate in a fondue pot.
  • Soft music.
  • Someone fun to share the evening with.
  1. Step 1
    Empty clean milk carton.

Fill your container (I use a milk carton) with water, add roses or whatever you would like into the water. There are many things you can put in the water to freeze, use your imagination.

  2. Step 2
    Freezer.

Place filled carton in freezer for at least two days for a half gallon and longer for the gallon.

  3. Step 3
Place a candle on each side of your ice.

Right before dinner is ready, take the milk carton out of the freezer, peel off carton and place ice on the dish you have for it, making sure the dish is deep enough to hold the water when the ice melts. Place a candle on each side of your ice, the candle light will look very nice on the ice.

  4. Step 4
    Music.

Put your music on. Make sure you have something playing that is continuous so that you don't have to leave the table. And don't forget to dim or turn off the lights.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your imagination.
  • Make sure candles are out before you leave the table.

on 10/12/2008 I have never tried artificial flowers or bottled water, but I think it's a good idea because your wife would like to keep the flowers. Great idea, and thank you for your comment and rating.

on 10/8/2008 can you use real roses or do you have to use fake ones
also for the water i would figure if tap water is used it would make it more foggy so harder to see the image inside , would you recommend i use like bottled water for this centerpiece ??
