    1. Send Invitations

      • 1

Purchase Little Mermaid party-themed invite cards at a party store or department store.

      • 2

Make your own invitations by using blue cardstock paper and folding it into a card. Decorate the front with oceanic or Little Mermaid clip art or sponge stickers of fish and sea stars. You can also cut cardstock of any color into the shape of an ocean, fish, crab, dolphin or starfish and decorate it with glitter glue.

      • 3

Fill out the party information inside the card. Insert a map and mark the designated party area by drawing a starfish on the map or using a Little Mermaid sticker. Remind your guests know to wear bathing suits and bring towels if it is a Little Mermaid swimming party.

Play Party Games and Make Crafts

      • 1

Put up a bubble machine for your party to fill the area with bubbles and make you feel like you are under the sea. You can rent a bubble machine or buy a small one in the toy department of a department store. Play the sound track from the Little Mermaid. Your party guests can dance surrounded by bubbles.

      • 2

Hide items around the party or yard that your party guests can find. Ariel is enthralled with any item related to humans. You can hide things that would interest Ariel, such as combs, spoons or forks, toy bracelets and necklaces.

      • 3

Play Pin the Shell on Ariel by drawing Ariel on a large poster board. Draw her wearing a necklace. Then draw a shell shape on colored paper and trace that shape onto other paper sheets, each a different color. Trace as many shapes as you have players. Cut the shapes out and give each child a different-colored shell. If the shells are the same color, write their names on the shells. Blindfold the first player and spin him around 3 times. Then tell him to pin the shell on the necklace. The player to come closest to the center of the necklace with the shell wins.

      • 4

Separate the group of party guests into teams. Have them walk on all fours with their bellies up and their backs toward the floor like crabs. Have a crab relay race with your teams.

      • 5

Make a craft by creating a crab or fish from paper plates and coloring them. To make the fish, have the guests cut out the mouth in a triangle off the side of the paper plate and glue on a googlie eye. Cut 2 pieces of construction paper into triangles, 1 for the side fin and 1 for the back fin. Glue on the fins and color the fish.

      • 6

Purchase a necklace or bracelet kit with fish-shaped beads or put the items together yourself. You'll need a cord for the necklace or bracelet, regular beads and ocean-themed beads.

      • 7

Purchase or make a Little Mermaid piñata for the party. Add toys with a Little Mermaid theme to the candy inside the piñata. Fill it with Little Mermaid fruit snacks, Little Mermaid stickers and tattoos, small sea animal toys and so forth.

      Have Decorations and Food

      • 1

Purchase Little Mermaid-themed plates, cups, napkins and a table cloth for your party. Put plain white table cloths on the tables, and then have party guests decorate it by drawing their own ocean scene on the table. Decorate with white and blue balloons to imitate bubbles and hang blue and white streamers around the party area. Attach paper fish to the streamers to make the guests feel like they are in the ocean.

      • 2

Shape a cake into any ocean creature or bake a cake with an Ariel cake pan. You can also purchase cake kits with a Little Mermaid theme online or order a Little Mermaid cake from a bakery.

      • 3

Make cupcakes with blue icing in Little Mermaid cupcake liners.

      • 4

        Make fish-shaped Rice Krispy treats.

      • 5

Serve little finger sandwiches and raw vegetables with ranch dressing for healthy snack foods. Make your sandwiches in fish shapes.

    Tips & Warnings

    • You can buy "birthday in a box" items online that come with all you need for a Little Mermaid birthday party.
