As computers become more of a need than a want, people are becoming more independent when it comes to understanding and using technology. Editing software for videos is becoming increasingly popular. It is fun to take video you shot on your digital camera and add special effects such as wipes, dissolves and inserts. Many times audio is edited simultaneously with video editing.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • VCR
  • Computer
  • AVID editing software
  • Video to be edited
  1. Step 1

Start the process of editing your video—select AVID camera or ePUB and open the software. Select a template in ePublisher for your video. You will need to choose "Video only A" or "Video only B." Now click "next."

  2. Step 2

Decide on a name for your video and type it in the dialogue box. In ePublisher your saved video will have an extension .epb.

  3. Step 3

Do what the next window tells you and specify if you are about to capture a video or import video files. Select what is appropriate for your session and then click "Finish."

  4. Step 4

Touch the play button on the VCR once you have put the video tape in the machine and turned the power source on.

  5. Step 5

Determine if the video can be seen in the AVID viewer—-if you see the video, click "Record Video" on the AVID screen. Record what you want to edit.

  6. Step 6

Play with the tabs "Effect," "Library" and "Title" in edit mode. The best way to learn is to play with your video.

  7. Step 7

Save your work continuously. In ePublish your saved video will be a MPEG.

Tips & Warnings
  • Record in standard play mode.
  • Remember to always save your work.
  • Video clips must all be brought in separately.
