How to crack an egg. Something very basic can cause so many so much difficulty.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • egg
  • small bowl
  • trash can

Step1
eggs Tap the middle of the egg sharply on the rim of a small bowl.
Step2
crack an egg Holding the egg low over the bowl. Insert the tips of your thumbs into the crack in the shell and gently pry or pull the shell apart.
Step3
eggs in a bowl Tip or pour the contents of the egg into the bowl and throw out the shells.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remove any pieces of shell with the tip of a teaspoon.
  • At the grocery store, always check each egg for cracks. You don't want to pay for broken eggs.
  • Commercially processed eggs are always washed, never purchase dirty eggs.
  • Wash hands for 20 seconds under hot water when handling raw eggs.
  • Eggs can be refrigerated for up to 5 weeks from the date stamped on the carton.
  • Leftover egg whites can be stored, tightly covered for up to 4 days.
  • Leftover yolks can be stored 2 days, in water for best results.

on 5/24/2008 I don't think I understand. For some people breaking an egg can be intimidating. I have seen a few who have burnt pots by boiling water too long. Basics may seem silly to others, but when you have had someone to do things for you and you have to suddenly provide for yourself, it is essential.
