Making Hanukkah crafts with the family is a great way to celebrate the eight-day Hebrew holiday that commemorates the fact that oil for one day lasted for eight days. Along with the gifts, food and games, you can add easy crafts to the festivities. Read on to discover ways to make Hanukkah crafts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • White wrapping paper
  • Blue ink or paint
  • Hanukkah-themed stamps
  • Popsicle sticks or pipe cleaners
  • Small firelog
  • Drill
  • Nine candles
  • Beeswax
  • Candle wicks

Step1
Make wrapping paper to use for the Hanukkah gifts you will be giving on the eight days of Hanukkah. Buy Hanukkah themed stamps, such as dreidels, menorahs or Star of David at a craft store. Michaels' or A.C. Moore usually carry these items around the holiday. Dip the stamps in blue ink or paint and stamp on plain white wrapping paper. Let dry and wrap the gifts.
Step2
Fashion a Star of David to hang in your home for Hanukkah. Work with your children and use child-friendly materials such as popsicle sticks or pipe cleaners. A Star of David is two equilateral triangles inverted on each other, making it a very easy Hanukkah craft to make and enjoy.
Step3
Assemble a menorah with any items that total eight with a ninth item that is different from the others. You need to be able to attach candles to the items to light on the eight days of Hanukkah. Take a small fire log and drill nine holes equal distance apart. Find eight beautiful candles and one very special candle for the ninth. Place the candles in the holes you've drilled and you have a rustic homemade menorah for the holidays.
Step4
Purchase wicks and beeswax at a craft store or online on the Lone Star Candle Supply Company. Wrap the beeswax evenly around the wick to make beeswax candles. These are a popular and traditional type of candle to use in the menorah for Hanukkah.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the traditional colors of Hanukkah, blue and white, to make your Hanukkah crafts.
  • Don't rush yourself with the time allowed for making Hanukkah crafts. The holiday falls on different dates each year. Consult a calendar to find out the exact dates of Hanukkah.
