I am going to explain to you what you will need to do to get that spilled nail polish out of your carpet without having to replace the entire carpet.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Acetone or nail polish remover.
  • Clean white rag for cleaning up stain.
  • Quart of warm water.
  • Mild detergent.
  • White vinegar.
  • Vacuum.
  1. Step 1

Decide if you will be using acetone or nail polish remover. Test your solvent of choice on an inconspicuous area of carpet.

  2. Step 2

If carpet passes the test you will then proceed to cleaning the stain.
Wet your rag with the solution you chose then rub the stain. Let carpet dry.

  3. Step 3

If stain is still there, you will then mix 1 teaspoon mild detergent with an equal amount white vinegar, to 1 quart warm water. With clean white cloth apply to stain. Continue with step 3 until the stain disappears.

  4. Step 4

    Let dry, then vacuum.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to remove stain as soon as possible. The longer it sits the harder it is going to be to remove.
  • DO NOT use acetone or nail polish remover on acetate carpet fibers.
