Many women love to accessorize with jewelry, hair pins, shoes, pocket books and makeup. But belts can add such sophistication and style to an otherwise plain outfit. Here are a few ideas on how to upgrade your look with nothing more than a belt.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at your outfit, and see what it's lacking. If it's lacking color or sequins to make the outfit stand out, belts can certainly bring out your look with ease.

  2. Step 2

Decide if you want a thin or thick belt for the particular outfit that you want to accessorize. Look at the loop holes in the pants to confirm that it can fit a thin or thick belt.

  3. Step 3

No belt loops? Just get a thick belt and drape it over your hips. This only looks good if you're really thin though.

  4. Step 4

Browse at your local department stores for a belt. Choose the color belt that makes your outfit stand out. If you have an all-black outfit that needs some jazzing up, perhaps a black-and-white, striped belt can do the trick.

  5. Step 5

Check out local Salvation Army stores for very inexpensive belts. While you're there, you could possibly buy many belts to begin accessorizing many different outfits.

  6. Step 6

Think about possibly buying shoes or handbags to match your new belts. This can add a whole new dimension to your fashion style. Rather than having very plain outfits, you can become a fashion diva by accessorizing with belts, shoes and handbags that all match.

  7. Step 7

Buy some belts that can even be worn over your shirt. This look is definitely in style right now, and many celebrities accessorize their outfits with belts worn over their shirts.
