Your lake house should be a calm place where you can go to relax. Here are a few tips on how to decorate a lake house so it becomes a calm haven.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paint
  • Camera
  • Frames
  • Slipcovers
  • Wall border
  • Knee board or skis
  1. Step 1

Paint your lake house in colors that reflect the outdoors. Soft blues can create a relaxing atmosphere. Yellow walls make the space feel cheerful. Think about leaving some walls white and adding an accent wall of blue or yellow.

  2. Step 2

Take scenic photographs such as the sunset over the water. Frame and mat the photos for beautiful wall art. This is an inexpensive way to decorate your lake house.

  3. Step 3

Create a shabby, chic look in the living room with white-washed furniture. Use slipcovers with a shabby, chic design. Freshen the living room with whites, yellows and blues.

  4. Step 4

Create a lake-themed room with a boat design. Hang a wall border with a boat design or paint a mural of a boat on the water. Hang an old knee board or skis on the wall as an interesting piece of art.

  5. Step 5

Frame your favorite pictures of lake trips. Take pictures of your family or friends skiing, boating or playing in the water. Display the photo frames on a shelf.
