Things You'll Need:
- 1 1/2-inch thick and 6-inch wide board, length depends on your dimensions
- 1 1/2-inch thick and 3-inch wide board, length depends on your dimensions
- Tape measure
- Screws
- Screw driver
- 4 "L" brackets
-
Step 1
Measure the area for the shoe rack. This tells you the length of boards you need. Cut the boards to your desired measurements.
-
Step 2
Attach the "L" brackets to the boards. Each board needs two "L" brackets. Find the center of the board. Find the center of each half and secure the bracket at that spot.
-
Step 3
Measure 3 inches up the wall. Attach the 6-inch wide board to wall with the "L" bracket. Place the "L" bracket facing downward.
-
Step 4
Attach the 3-inch board to the wall 2 inches above the 6-inch board. This "L" bracket needs to be placed facing downward as well.

on 10/29/2008 Hi, just wanted to add to your wonderful idea...you can also use a shoe rack for many other things, I keep one in my coat closet and keep gloves, scarves, mufflers, ear-muffs, hats (stocking caps), all sorts of things in it. I use another one in my garage to keep handy tools, cleaning supplies, etc. Shoe racks really are great and can be so well displayed or hidden.
