To get maximum enjoyment out of your plasma TV for as long as possible, you will need to take proper care of it. Among the most important things to do to preserve your plasma TV screen is to set the brightness and contrast to levels that do not waste energy and cause the TV to wear out faster. You will also need to clean your plasma TV screen regularly to remove any fingerprints and dirt.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plasma TV
  • Plasma TV screen cleaning kit
  • Two soft cloths
  • Vacuum with a hose attachment

Keep Your Plasma TV Screen Clean

  1. Step 1

Consult the instruction manual that came with your plasma TV. The manufacturer may provide you with instructions regarding the frequency with which you should clean your plasma TV screen to maintain the best possible performance. The manual may also recommend or advise against particular types of cleaning solutions.

  2. Step 2

Wipe the area surrounding the plasma TV screen with a soft cloth. This area contains the buttons that you might use to operate your plasma TV occasionally. If a significant amount of dirt or dust has accumulated, you may want to clean this area with a slightly damp soft cloth. Use the second soft cloth to dry the area.

  3. Step 3

Dust your plasma TV screen gently with a soft cloth or the cloth from the plasma TV cleaning kit. Even if no one has touched the plasma TV screen, dust will build up over time. Removing the dust from your screen will provide you with a clearer picture when you are watching it.

  4. Step 4

Use a plasma TV screen cleaning kit to clean any dirt and fingerprints that remain on your screen. Plasma TV screen cleaning kits are available from many electronics retailers. They include ammonia-free solutions and soft cloths (often made of microfiber) that will not damage the screen while you are cleaning it.

  5. Step 5

Use your vacuum cleaner's hose attachment, with the suction set on the lowest power setting, to remove dust from the vents of your plasma TV. The vents on your television allow heat to dissipate from the unit and need to remain clear.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use tissues or paper towels to clean your plasma TV screen. They may scratch the surface of the screen.
  • Do not use cleaners that contain ammonia. These can do damage to the coating on your plasma TV screen.
