How to Make a Pee Wee Herman Costume

Pee Wee Herman, the adolescent that never grew up, brought laughter to millions of kids and adults every Saturday morning with "Pee Wee's Playhouse." Pee Wee may not be on TV anymore, but the suited character with the white shoes and red bow tie will never be forgotten. Create your own Halloween "big adventure" with this version of Pee-Wee's famous get-up.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Gray suit
  • White button-down shirt
  • Red clip-on bow tie
  • White socks
  • White loafers
  • Pink rouge
  • Red lipstick
  • Hair gel or mousse

Step1
Visit your favorite thrift or vintage shop and purchase a grey suit, at least one size too small.
Step2
Get a white button-down shirt out of your closet.
Step3
Clip on a red bow tie to dress up your costume, Pee Wee style.
Step4
Complete your Pee Wee Herman costume with a pair of white socks and white loafers. If you don't have white loafers, use white shoe polish to color a black or brown pair.
Step5
Brighten your cheeks with circles of pink rouge.
Step6
Color your lips Pee-Wee style with bright red lipstick.
Step7
Slick back your hair with some mousse or hair gel.

Tips & Warnings

  • The real Pee Wee Herman would ride his beloved red bicycle to the Halloween party!
  • If you really want to impress your friends, get a copy of "The Champs" version of "Tequila" and practice the famous "Pee Wee Dance." A quick Internet search for "Pee Wee Dance" will net you several videos of Pee Wee's dance steps.
  • Consider throwing your own Pee Wee costume party and encourage your guests to dress as their favorite Pee Wee characters, such as: Cowboy Curtis, Miss Yvonne, Pteri the Pterodactyl, Randy (the resident trouble-starter,) Captain Carl, Jambi, Mrs. Rene and Reba the Mail Lady.
