With so many allergens and toxic chemicals in the home, it's nice to have the ability to clean SAFELY.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Rinse the inside of both spray bottles in any household faucet.
Step2
Fill one bottle with hydrogen peroxide.

This handy chemical will kill any bacteria on contact, leaving any surface in your house clean and safe. You should spray the surface and allow the hydrogen peroxide to act for at least 30 seconds for best effect.
Step3
Fill the other bottle with vinegar.

After the peroxide has had time to act, wipe down the surface and respray with vinegar. This chemical will dissolve any soil or stains on the surface after a short time (15 - 30 seconds should suffice). Wipe down the surface with a clean cloth and you're done!

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to use OPAQUE bottles. If you can see the liquid inside, so can the sun, and UV rays break down hydrogen peroxide and leave it inert.
  • If you buy a spray bottle with a long enough straw insert, you can attach the spray head directly to the hydrogen peroxide bottle (standard cap sizes are a wonderful thing)!
  • Avoid spraying either chemical in someone's eyes or face. If this occurs flush with water for 2 minutes. If discomfort persists seek medical attention.
  • Be cautious when spraying hydrogen peroxide near carpet or upholstery. (always find a test patch, if possible)
  • Hydrogen peroxide is fantastic for removing blood stains from fabric (follow color-safe warnings above)...the burning means it works :-D

on 6/24/2008 My wife and I are still using this cleaning method. It's great and it's cheap.

Also, the vinegar does a great job on mirrors and windows.

on 10/15/2007 I am so going to try this. Being chemical free with babies around is a great. And killing germs with babies around is a must!!! As to not using this on fabrics and carpet. You need to do a color test. Hydrogen peroxide is great in getting out blood in fabrics and carpets. Vinegar sets colors in fabrics so do a color test first by applying a small amount of the treatment.

on 10/7/2007 I just tried this all over my kitchen... WOW, so great that I'm gonna try it in many more places. I have many animals and this is great for the animal lover that is worried about what they may lick.
