Step 1
Store items you purchase in bulk such as spices, cereal, flour or grains. They can also be reused for canning sauces or salsa. They can be sealed airtight so they stay fresh longer.
-
Step 2
Make your backyard blossom with hanging bud vases. Use floral wire around the rim of each jar. Then loop a wire through the other wire to make a hanging handle. Fill with water, drop your favorite garden flower in several glasses and hang from a small tree or bush.
-
Step 3
Consider decorations for your next party. For an interesting candle holder, fill a jelly jar with sand or even salt and add a candlestick. Decorate the outer jar with stickers or even a permanent marker in a pattern such as different colored circles.
-
Step 4
Use large containers to display collections such as seashells you have from various family trips. Write the date and place visited on the outside.
-
Step 5
Utilize as a utensil holder for forks, knives or spoons. Make them stand out by decorating the top rim by gluing small shells or buttons around the edge.
-
Step 6
Find handy uses for them as decorations around house. Make bookends by saving two matching jars and add colored sand in swirls. Glue felt to the bottom of them so they won't slide.
-
Step 7
Give gifts such as chocolate, cookies, homemade salsa or jelly. Add a special homemade touch by addressing the occasion with hand drawn balloons on the outer glass.

on 5/12/2008 This is one of my favorite usages of glass jars. I always hated using dixie cups at parties. What a Waste! Here's what I do instead, I run the jars through the wash (or scrub them with soap really well) and save them in my basement or closet in boxes. Then when I have parties, I use my old spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, salsa jars, etc.. for beer glasses! You can instantly provide glasses for tons of guests at keggers, bqqs and other festivities.
I also use the ones I really like as glasses at home.
My dad also uses them for small hardware pieces in his work room in the basement.
