Tom and Jerry was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbara. The cartoon played before MGM's movies in theaters from 1940 to 1967 and won seven academy awards during that time. In 1965 Tom and Jerry moved on to television with a lot of the extremely violent stuff edited out of the show. Though you can't find Tom and Jerry on television much anymore, many people still love the cartoon. Read on to learn how to be a Tom and Jerry fan.

1. Watch Tom and Jerry cartoons on the Kids WB channel. Most networks won't run the cartoon any more because of the violence, but it still runs on the WB network.

2. Visit and have fun on Tom and Jerry's unofficial fan website. There you can shop for Tom and Jerry apparel, learn about the creators and the show, watch video clips and print out pictures to color.

3. Play Tom and Jerry games on the Hanna-Barbara website. You can also download Tom and Jerry wallpaper for your computer, sign up for the Hanna-Barbara newsletter, learn more about Hanna-Barbara's other cartoon characters and shop in their online store for Tom and Jerry items.

4. Purchase DVDs of the Tom and Jerry cartoon show. There are many DVDs available of both their television series and the original shorts made for theaters. There is even a Tom and Jerry movie that was released on DVD in 1992. Do a search online and you will find them.

5. Start a Tom and Jerry collection. Do an online search to find all kinds of Tom and Jerry memorabilia including original art pictures, movie posters, toys and action figures.
