How to Plan a Bachelor's Party in Soho
Bachelor parties, or stag nights as they're more commonly known in the UK, are the groom's last chance to say goodbye to their single life and get up to things their wife-to-be probably wouldn't approve of, like drinking, gambling and dodgy strip clubs! For the best man organising the party, London's vibrant Soho makes a great spot for a stag night thanks to its legions of lively bars and all night, good-time atmosphere.

1
Plan a suitable date for the stag night. Obviously you have to make sure you choose a date when the groom is available, but choosing a weekend night will mean you can all let loose without worrying about work the next day - and it's when Soho is at its liveliest. Try and set aside a whole day or an entire weekend if everyone can make it.
-
2
Decide what the groom would most want to do on the stag night - but remember it's traditional not to tell him what's going on.
-
3
Get in touch with all the groom's friends and family. Remember, the more the merrier, and he'll really appreciate that everyone turned up to celebrate.
-
4
Get everyone invited to confirm their attendance as soon as possible. Once you've got an idea of the numbers coming to the bachelor party, you can start booking activities.
-
5
Book accommodation for the group in nearby hotels if you're planning on making a weekend of it. "Time Out" magazine offers a guide to London and reviews of many hotels in central London.
-
6
Book a table for dinner, as large groups will find it difficult to get spaces at the weekend without pre-booking. Square Meal and Top Table (see Resources below) offer reviews and online booking facilities for most London restaurants.
-
7
Make sure everyone knows how to get there by sending out maps and directions via email before the party. Soho is easily reachable on the London Underground network, and the area is a short walk from Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square tube stations.
-
8
Arrange a meeting place for the beginning of the bachelor party. Soho is mostly made up of bars, restaurants and stripper venues. Choose which you think is most suitable. You could start at a more traditional pub, move on to a more buzzing bar and finish the night at one of Soho's late night clubs.
-
9
Make the most of Soho's infamous sex scene by treating the groom to a private dance in one of the many lapdancing clubs. Steer clear of touts walking the streets asking if you want to see a show. Even though they might promise a low entry fee, they'll make up for it by selling you drinks at extortionate prices and may make you pay a joining fee on top.
-
10
Give some thought to pranks or themes you might want for the stag night. Getting group t-shirts printed is a favourite idea, as is dressing up in silly outfits. Think of the funniest, most ridiculous thing you can do to the groom at the end of the night, and then take photos of it as evidence. It's his stag night after all!

Tips & Warnings
Consider how much everyone can afford to spend on the stag do. Work out a budget and let everyone know how much everything will be in advance. If you've had to pay deposits up front, collect the money from the attendees before the day. Everyone will probably forget on the night.
Make sure the groom (and all the other members of the party) knows where their accommodation is and that they can find their way back to it at the end of the night. If you all get separated, you don't want someone to be stumbling around London lost all night.
