How to Keep Towels Fluffy

As you wash your towels, you begin to notice that they lose their fluffiness over time. Towels become less fluffy because of a build of residual soap and frequent washing in hard water. To keep towels fluffy, follow these suggestions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Purchase good quality towels. They remain fluffy longer. Cotton towels have a tendency to stay fluffy longer than towels of mixed fabrics. JCPenney and Linens 'n Things offer 100% cotton towels.
Step2
Use a cold wash cycle to clean the towels. It is also best to wash the towels separately from your other clothing items.
Step3
Put in only the recommended amount of detergent. Too much laundry detergent will cause the fabric on the towels to harden.
Step4
Use vinegar to occasionally wash towels. This gets rid of build up and ensures that the towels remain fluffy. Vinegar can also eliminate any odors found on the towels.
Step5
Skip the fabric softener when washing. This product will actually cause the towels to lose their fluffiness.
Step6
Fluff the towels before placing in the dryer. You should use a medium heat setting to dry them. You want to fluff them again once they have finished drying.
Step7
Place the towels outside to dry from time to time. Occasional air drying will help the towels keep their fluffy appearance longer.
