Cherry cream cheese pie is a creamy and sweet dessert that is simple to make. The sweet cherry filling paired with the cool cream cheese makes this an ideal stand-alone dessert, but it can be also be paired with fresh fruits or nuts. This recipe is adapted from Deep South Dish's Cherry-O Cream Pie.
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 9-inch graham cracker pie crust
- 21 ounces cherry pie filling
In a bowl, mix the cream cheese and sour cream; gradually stir in the condensed milk until smooth.
You can also use a food mixer; set it on high to mix the sour cream and cream cheese for 2 minutes and then switch to a low setting when you pour in the milk.
Add the sugar, lemon juice, butter and vanilla, then stir to combine.
Pour the mixture into the graham cracker pie crust and let it set in the fridge for about 4 hours.
When the cream cheese mixture has set, pour the cherry pie filling onto the pie and serve.
You can use the mixed cream cheese as a base for any topping other than cherry, such as blueberry or strawberry pie filling. You can also layer the topping with nuts, such as pine nuts or almonds, to add a crunchy texture.
If you want to bake your cherry cream cheese pie in the oven, add an egg to the mixture and a top crust; bake it for 30 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
