How to Use a Jigsaw Puzzle Mat
Use a jigsaw puzzle mat to store your not-yet-finished jigsaw puzzle--you'll never have to leave your unfinished jigsaw puzzle on the table again! Simply roll up the mat with your unfinished puzzle situated for safe keeping.
Instructions
-
-
1
Choose a mat that is suitable to your preferred puzzle size.
-
2
Lay your jigsaw puzzle mat atop a flat surface like a table or a large section of countertop.
-
-
3
Begin assembling your puzzle atop the mat. Try to center your puzzle assembly in the mat so that, when you pack up your production, the puzzle will be evenly protected.
-
4
Roll up your jigsaw puzzle mat carefully and slowly, making sure to roll the mat up tightly. Remember that it must be able to fit inside of the storage tube.
-
5
Fasten the velcro straps (if provided) to the felt bottom of the mat before inserting in the tube.
-
6
Store your loose jigsaw puzzle pieces in a separate carrying container, like a plastic bag.
-
7
Locate online outlets like PuzzleBuddy for purchase of quality jigsaw puzzle mats made of felt (see resources below).

Tips & Warnings
Optional storage tubes are available to allow for safe transport of your jigsaw puzzle project.
Do all of your puzzle assembly on the jigsaw puzzle mat, even if you think you'll complete the puzzle at home. You never know when you might want to take your puzzle along on an unexpected journey or three-day weekend.
Use a jigsaw puzzle mat to share your puzzling hobby with friends and relatives, since the mat allows you to take your puzzle anywhere. Use it to visit your grandchildren, a sick friend in the hospital or a beloved relative in a senior care facility.
Determine which mat material best suits your needs and preferences before buying. If the environment is important to you, look for a "green" puzzle mat.
If you decide to make your own jigsaw puzzle mat, be sure to use an adequately firm material that will not disturb the puzzle's setting.
Do not attempt to use a jigsaw puzzle mat for a 3D puzzle.
