The suddenly popular Mojito cocktail is a deliciously sweet and refreshing tropical drink. Although nowadays the ones they serve in a bar might differ from its original recipe. Here's how to make an authentic original Bodeguita del Medio Cuban mojito.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 2 ounces lime juice (squeezed from lime)
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • Crushed ice
  1. Step 1

Place the mint leaves into a tall cocktail glass.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze about 2 ounces of juice from a cut lime into the glass.

  3. Step 3

    Add the powdered sugar.

  4. Step 4

Then, gently mash the ingredients together with the back of a spoon.

  5. Step 5

Add crushed ice and 2 ounces white rum then stir.

  6. Step 6

Top off with 2 ounces club soda and voila! you have an authentic Cuban mojito.

Tips & Warnings
  • A popular variation is to take half of the juiced lime and cut into four wedges to add to the glass.

on 9/11/2007 Powdered sugar has a bit of starch in it, use a simple syrup or place some sugar into blender and make it fine. The starch changes the nature of the drink and imparts flavors and textures you don't need.
