How to Make a Non-Alcoholic Grog

Arr, matey, it is time to make a non-alcoholic Grog. The dark rum-coloring of traditional Grog is given by hot coffee, while the spices and sugars make a confection worthy of any modern coffee house. Have a cup and raise the roof tonight. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 6 cups of brewed coffee
  • 1 cup of cream
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 lemons
  • Ground nutmeg

Instructions

      Peel lemons. Save the peels, but use the fruit for another drink or dish.

      Blend the brown sugar, butter and spices in a small mixing bowl.

      Add the heavy cream to the coffee. Stir the cream into the coffee until evenly mixed.

      Stir the dry ingredients into the coffee and cream mixture. Stir until thoroughly dissolved.

      Pour the non-alcoholic Grog into coffee cups.

      Garnish each cup with a lemon peel.

      Serve hot and fresh.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a dollop of whipping cream to the top of each cup of Grog and then sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg for a little extra sweetness.

  • Do not store unused Grog. It tastes best when fresh and hot.
