How to Prank Your Boyfriend on April Fool's Day

As you've probably already figured out, when guys are in a settled relationship, they tend to become complacent-lounging around in their undies, not combing their hair, shrugging their wordless thanks for a meticulously home-cooked five-course meal. What better way to keep your man on his best behavior than to prank him on April Fool's Day? Here are some can't-miss suggestions.

Instructions

1. Offer to indulge his deepest fantasies. "You know, David, I've been giving it a lot of thought-maybe a threesome with that cute gal from your office isn't such a bad idea after all." Be sure to disconnect the phone before you say this, 'cause he'll lunge for it so quickly you won't have time to add "April Fool's!"

2. Arrange to be called by an ex. The day before April Fool's, ask a girlfriend to call you on Sunday morning, and greet her with an excited "John! It's been so long! How are you?" Draw out the conversation as long as you can, and drop your voice occasionally to a hushed whisper. See how closely your boyfriend gradually approaches before he "accidentally" unplugs the phone.

3. Pretend to win a Fulbright Scholarship. "Oh, Peter, Tierra del Fuego isn't *that* far away, and two years'll be gone before you know it. Can you stop thinking about yourself for once and just be happy for me?" If you're in an especially cruel mood, you can draw out this gag up until the time you're supposed to leave for the airport.

4. Tell him you've adopted an obscure religion. "I'm sorry, Henry, but the rites of the Estonian Pentecostal Fourth-Day Adventist Charismatic Church really mean a lot to me, and it's not that big of a deal to convert. Although in your case, there may be a bit of surgery involved. Look, I've brought you some literature!"

5. Move out the night before. If you fake a big, teary argument on Saturday morning, you can have all your belongings cleared out well before Sunday (you'll need some storage space for this gag, as well as a sympathetic friend with a car). Won't the two of you share a big laugh when you call your guy on Monday morning and tell him you were just kidding!
