Remove Halloween Makeup from Clothing

Halloween is a frightfully fun holiday, enjoyed by people young and old. One of the best parts of Halloween is putting on makeup and dressing up like someone or "something" else. But by the end of the night, the makeup usually ends up all over your clothes. It can be sticky and hard to remove. With a little persistence, though, you can get the stains out.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Lay the clothing on a flat surface and find an inconspicuous area to pour a little liquid makeup remover or rubbing alcohol on it. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will help you see if the cleaning product can be used on the garment. If the fabric changes color or looks different, then try using a mild soap or stain remover instead. If the fabric looks normal, then proceed to the next step.

  2. Step 2

Wet a washcloth Gently dab the affected area, getting the makeup wet. Once the whole area is damp, take a paper towel and dab the stained area. Most of the makeup should lift right off of the fabric. Repeat as necessary until all the makeup has been removed. If a faint stain remains and no more makeup comes off on the paper towel, proceed to the next step.

  3. Step 3

Spray the stained area with a stain remover. Place the garment in the washer on a warm gentle cycle. Remove from the washer and dry normally.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you put your costume on before you apply your makeup, you can avoid getting makeup on your costume.
  • Wrap a towel around your shoulders while applying makeup or colored hairspray to minimize the risk of staining your clothing.
