on 12/15/2008 HAIRSPRAY! it works... i had a huge permanent black hair dye patch on a brand new beige carpet. I only noticed it two days later. I sprayed hairspray directly onto the stain, quite a lot of it at very close range. Then dabbed it with a cold wet face cloth. Once the carpet dried I repeated the process and the hair dye has gone completely.

on 11/12/2008 also... at cvs in the hair dye aisle they have hair dye remover, its called something like oops color remover. its the stuff you use if you hate your dye job, it takes out the dark colors. used it on a HUGE BLACK stain that had set in for about 50 minutes before I even saw it, and that stuff worked like a charm. also topped that off with shout stain remover. problem solved.

on 1/12/2008 Wow ! wish I had of had hairspray at home. Read this (after I had rubbed it of course). I had a highlight package in my hair dye so after trying the dishwashing liquid and vinegar (which didnt remove it) I tried some of the highlighting creme. Worked like a dream. I dont think its good for the carpet but now I dont have dark red marks on cream carpet anymore. Thanks

on 1/9/2008 Thanks so much!! Actually, I tried both the dishwashing liquid as well as the hairspray! hairspray method came out as the winner!!! Where the dishwashing liquid method was used on the carpet - unfortunately another person had already "rubbed" the carpet...so it was tough! I saw this on the internet only AFTER it was rubbed. It probably would have worked too.

The stain was red permanent hairdye!! and it's magically gone!!

THANKS AGAIN!!

on 11/22/2005 Do be careful when using hairspray to take ink out of fabric. Sometimes, it will take the fabric's color out as well.
