Line your new handmade bread basket with a pretty liner to match your kitchen, and serve a hot loaf of homemade bread in it at your next dinner party. The following steps will make a liner to fit the bread basket from "How to Make a Bread Basket."

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the material double the size of the basket or 20 inches by 24 inches.

  2. Step 2

Stretch 1/8-inch-wide elastic around the top of the basket. Pull the elastic snugly so the liner will fit tightly to the basket.

  3. Step 3

    Cut elastic and set aside.

  4. Step 4

Round the corners of the material. Do this by placing a glass at the corner touching both sides of the fabric piece, and cutting around the curve of the glass.

  5. Step 5

Fold under a 1/4-inch seam allowance to the wrong side and stitch.

  6. Step 6

Fold the material over 3/4 inch to the wrong side for a band for the elastic.

  7. Step 7

Sew along the edge of the material leaving a 1/2-inch space at one end. This is where you will feed the elastic through.

  8. Step 8

Use a safety pin to thread the elastic through the band.

  9. Step 9

Stitch the ends of the elastic together

  10. Step 10

Whip-stitch the ends of the material together.

  11. Step 11

Place the liner in the basket with the right side facing up.
