Sending a valentine is a straightforward, simple process that makes a lot of people very nervous! Write a simple note from your heart and follow these basic guidelines.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Decide who you want to send your valentine to and why. In some cases, this will be an easy decision, in other cases you may have to give it some thought.

  2. Step 2

Choose ' or make ' the right Valentine's Day card for your particular situation. You will have to decide whether you want a romantic card, a funny or silly card, or a beautiful blank card.

  3. Step 3

Decide whether your valentine will be signed or anonymous. If you plan to send an anonymous valentine, will you drop a hint or two in the card or just let the recipient wonder forever?

  4. Step 4

Compose the perfect message. Work on some scrap paper to start with, so you can get the wording right before you actually write it into the card.

  5. Step 5

Write your message, using the nicest pen you have. You might want to buy a special colored pen or calligraphy pen for the occasion, if you really want your card to be memorable.

  6. Step 6

Sign the card, if that's part of your plan. Most important of all, decide how to sign off ' 'love', 'sincerely', 'yours', 'always'?

  7. Step 7

Seal the envelope with a kiss ' or a pretty sticker or seal. Most good stationery stores should have a selection of valentine-themed stickers.

  8. Step 8

Add the correct postage and send your valentine. Or just hand-deliver it yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to send a really mysterious anonymous greeting, get a friend in another town to send the card for you, so a strange postmark will appear on the envelope. You will need to start early if you want to do this, to allow time for the card to get to your friend, then make its way back to its final destination.
  • If you feel nervous about sending your card, just put it in a drawer for 24 hours before mailing it ' this will give you time to think about it. Or, you could just take a deep breath, drop the card in the mailbox and hope for the best.

on 9/19/2007 As suggested in the tips, you can remain mysterious if you have someone else mail it for you. You can use a service that specializes in helping people remain anonymous such as texasremail.com. They'll mail it for you and you never have to disclose your identity or location!

on 11/22/2005 Make the card very original! Put a lot of hearts on it and make a short poem about the reasons why you love him. You can add a little comment about the time when you loved being with him and how you feel when you love him. Of course, it's up to you if you want to tell him who the card is from. I personally think that you should say it is from you.

on 11/22/2005 I always write a short poem for the inside of the front (opposite the greeting). It really personalises the card and they'll keep it or ever! Good luck!

(If you want to keep it light-hearted then a witty limerick works well...)

on 11/22/2005 Never tell your friend to give your valentine to him; you should do it. Don't be nervous; just be yourself and if he doesn't like you for you, you shouldn't go out with him!
