Step 1
Run an extra-long string of white indoor lights along the perimeter of the room at the top of the wall where the wall and the ceiling meet.
-
Step 2
Secure the lights with thumbtacks or staples.
-
Step 3
Purchase several boxes of glass Christmas ornament balls in one color - or in an array of hues such as red, silver, gold and green.
-
Step 4
String clear fishing line through the ornament hooks twice, creating a durable, double-stranded attachment.
-
Step 5
Cut the fishing line in a variety of lengths, ranging from 4 to 12 inches long.
-
Step 6
Hang the ornaments from the ceiling, spacing them equally. Secure the fishing wire to the ceiling with pushpin tacks or a staple gun.
-
Step 7
Attach another strand of fishing wire to a crystalline star, miniature disco ball, or Santa ornament. Hang the ornament in the center of the room and slightly lower than the lowest grouping of glass balls.
-
Step 8
Pin or staple small sprigs of holly and/or mistletoe to each corner of the room at the point where the walls and ceiling meet.

on 4/16/2009 Nice article. We always use faux mistletoe-garland around the edges of the ceilings in the living room and entry way using clear, long tacks. Sometimes we put different bows with pine cones on the garland.

on 12/15/2005 If you don't want to attach lights to your wall, you could replace them with garland, and then from the corners; bring the garland into the center to meet your centerpiece.

on 12/13/2005 Cut out paper snowflakes from white office paper. Tape a short piece of fishing line (3 - 12 inches) to each snowflake. Tape or staple the other end of the fishing line to the ceiling. The best part about paper snowflakes, they don't have to come down after Christmas!

on 12/13/2005 In order to make the web lights look less tacky and effortless, you can add ribbon to cover some of the wire or hang the ornaments from the wire to have the lights look less planned.
