How to Iron Satin & Taffeta
Satin and taffeta are made from various forms of silk and often combined with other fabrics such as rayon. Wedding and evening dresses often contain varying degrees of satin or taffeta because of the elegance that these fabrics convey. When the dresses get wrinkled, the wisest course of action is to take them to a dry cleaner. However, you can safely iron your satin or taffeta dress if dry cleaning isn't an option. Turn the garment inside out to protect it from the iron’s direct heat.

Place a cloth, such as a handkerchief, over the garment to protect it further.

Place the iron on the low heat setting. If you set it too high, the garment is more likely to get burned. Avoid using water in the iron because the water can stain the fabric.

Place the cloth on an area of the garment and iron it. When finished with one area, move the cloth to the next area. Continue moving the cloth and ironing until you have ironed the entire garment.
