If you or someone in your family wears lipstick, there are bound to be occasional accidents when lipstick finds its way onto clothing or other fabrics, not all of which are easy to clean. Silk is a delicate fabric that must be treated with special care; as a result, traditional methods for removing lipstick stains from fabrics are often not suitable for silk. Fortunately, there are simple home remedies that will get rid of a lipstick stain on silk and leave the fabric looking as good as new.

Place a piece of tape over the lipstick stain. Clear tape or masking tape will both work.

Pull the tape off the stain in a single quick motion. All or most of the lipstick should now be stuck to the tape instead of the fabric.

Sprinkle a layer of chalk dust or talcum powder onto any lipstick that remains on the silk. Use your finger to gently dab the powder until the stain disappears. You may have to repeat this step two to three times to completely eliminate the lipstick.
