How to Make Crystal Chandeliers That Hang From a Vase for Wedding Centerpieces

Make dramatic centerpieces for your wedding reception that won't break the bank by turning some ordinary items into something spectacular. Use natural elements as well as classy crystals to dress up your guests' tables. The eye-catching, flashy centerpieces will reflect the light and create elegant chandeliers to add a romantic element to your reception.

Things You'll Need

  • Branches
  • Garden clippers
  • Spray paint
  • Clear glass vase
  • Crystal beads on a string
  • Vase light
  • Mirror
  • Candles
  • Spray paint the branches with a shimmery spray paint. Use long, thin branches; curly willow is a good choice. Allow the paint to dry.

  • Cut the branches to your desired length. They should be at least twice as high as your vase at the highest point, but some pieces can be shorter to add visual interest.

  • Fill the vase with water. Place the branches in the vase.

  • Drape strings of crystal beads on the branches. Make sure the beads are evenly spaced from top to bottom and on all sides of the arrangement.

  • Place a round mirror in the center of a guest table. Put a vase light in the center of the mirror. The vase light should be the same diameter as the bottom of your vase, and it will shine a light up through the vase. Turn on the light.

  • Place the vase on the vase light. Put votive or LED candles around the base of the vase. The crystals in your chandelier will reflect the light coming up from the vase light and the candles.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of strings of beads, you can hang larger, individual crystals from the branches. Find these with metal hooks already attached at most craft supply stores.
