How to Make a Wedding Bridal Veil Yourself
A wedding bridal veil is a length of tulle worn in the hair of the bride. The veil is used to cover the bride's face as she walks down the aisle to the wedding alter. Veils attach to the bride's head by either a hair comb or head band. Pre-fabricated bridal veils can be expensive to purchase, and it can be hard to find the perfect veil to complement your dress. If you are on a budget, you may want to consider making your own veil. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide how long you wish your veil to be. Shoulder-length veils are 18 to 24 inches long, waist-length veils are 30 inches long, fingertip-length veils are 40 inches long, chapel-length veils are 60 to 72 inches long and cathedral-length veils are 108 inches or more. Double the length of the selected veil to determine how much tulle to purchase.

2
Lay the tulle on a flat surface. Fold in the tulle in half lengthwise, positioning the folded side near you. Fold the tulle in half crosswise by folding the right end over to the left end. Make sure all the edges are even.

3
Cut the top left corner of the folded tulle in a curved line with a pair of scissors. Discard the cut-off portion. Unfold the tulle completely and smooth it flat.
-
4
Fold the veil crosswise by bring the right end over to the left end. Position the right end so it is just shorter than the left end. These edges will be the two layers of the veil.

5
Thread a sewing needle with white thread. Tie a knot in one end of the thread. Sew a straight line of long running stitches across the folded end of the veil, 2 to 3 inches from the edge. Remove the needle from the thread and set aside. Hold the loose end of the thread without the knot and push the tulle along the thread to gather it. Tie a knot in the thread near the edge of the gathered tulle to secure the gathers.

6
Thread the sewing needle with a piece of white thread. Tie a knot in the end of the thread. Place the gathered end of the veil on top of a 4-inch hair comb. Sew the gathered end of the tulle to the hair comb. Pass the needle and thread through the tulle, between two of the teeth on the comb, up and around the comb's top and back through the tulle. Tie a knot in the thread at the end of the comb.
