Ironing isn't the only way to get rid of wrinkles. If you're traveling without your iron or are just too lazy to drag out the ironing board, your clothes don't have to look like you've slept in them. Some people are sensitive to the perfumes and dyes in fabric-softener sheets, and others are concerned about the potential environmental impact of the sheets, so try out these low-impact (and free) steps first.

on 10/30/2006 For cotton clothes that were wonderful to wear until that first washing, you don't like to iron and the hem rolls, here's the secret: After washing, take it in the shower, spray it down soaking wet, hang it straight on a good hanger, smooth the wrinkles out, straighten the hem, the cuffs, sleeves, even put in pleats if need be, but let it drip dry. When dry, voila! no wrinkles! If you want to soften it a bit, toss it in the dryer for a couple of minutes, but no longer or you undo all that you just did.

on 10/30/2006 For nylon/spandex/rayon mix clothes that have wrinkles, wet a washcloth, squeeze it out so it is not dripping, throw it and the wrinkled article in the dryer on permanent press setting for 10 minutes in the middle of the cycle. If you set the dryer for 10min, it goes into the cool down cycle and just makes your clothes damp and doesn't take out the wrinkles.

on 12/28/2005 Put a cap full of liquid fabric softener into a spray bottle, fill the remainder of the bottle with water. Spray on wrinkled clothing. Works a whole lot better than Febreze and is way, way cheaper. It will not stain clothing (it's too diluted). I even use this concoction when I travel.

on 11/22/2005 Get a spray bottle and fill it with water. You can spray out any wrinkles in most items of clothing. It's convenient for someone lazy - like me.
