Pictures can do more for decor than simply hang around on the walls. Here are some off-the-wall ways to put photos and art to work in decor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Break up the monotony of books by slipping small framed pictures onto bookshelves.

  2. Step 2

Prop framed art on easels or tabletop plate stands.

  3. Step 3

Put up a picture ledge, which allows you to move art around without honeycombing the wall with nail holes.

  4. Step 4

Set the picture on the mantel or at the back of a piece of furniture such as a chest of drawers or a desk.

  5. Step 5

Create a windowsill vignette with a framed picture (resting against the pane) and a couple of pieces of bric-a-brac on the sill.

  6. Step 6

Place a picture on the top of a toilet tank and lean it against the wall.

  7. Step 7

Set art atop a wide chair-rail molding. You may want to stabilize the picture with adhesive dough.

  8. Step 8

Hang small pictures on the inner doors of a computer armoire so you're surrounded by beauty while you work.

  9. Step 9

Slip unframed prints and photographs underneath glass tops on furniture.

  10. Step 10

Make a collage of family photographs and mount it on the front of your refrigerator with magnets or tape.

on 11/22/2005 Have a space between two doors? Small decorative frames fit nicely into those spots! Your guests will enjoy looking at your old family photos, you as a child, or just a fun pic or pics of friends or family. You can fit more than one frame in those spots!
