How to Decorate for a Spy Party
With the popularity of movies like "Spy Kids," and the mystery and intrigue that surrounds being a spy, a spy theme is often a popular choice for kids parties. If your little one enjoys spies and aspires to be a secret agent, a spy party may be a fitting choice for her. To bring the life spy world to life, transform the party space with decorations that make it look like a whodunit environment. Does this Spark an idea?

Trace footsteps on the sidewalk or stairs leading up to the party location with sidewalk chalk.

Display a sign that reads "Spy Training Center" above the door or on the wall of the party area.

Cut an eye-sized hole in the side of a small box. Print the words "retina scanner" along the side of the box. Place the box on a table near the door of the party space and have children pretend to scan their eyes before entering the room.

Hang tan overcoats on coat hooks or place them on hangers. Bring in a rolling closet rod and display the coats on the rod. Place sunglasses and fedora hats on a table next to the coats. These elements can double as disguises for children to wear during their spy training.

Cut out question marks from black paper and hang them on walls and doors.

Trace footprints onto black construction paper and cut them out. Tape them to the floor of the party space.

Dip your fingers and hands in a thin layer of washable black paint. Press your fingerprints onto a disposable white tablecloth. Cover the table with the tablecloth.

Print out or create your own maps with markers and set them out around the table as place mats.

Set cameras, flashlights and binoculars in the center of tables on shelves and tables. Fill a briefcase with manila envelopes labeled "Top Secret" and display it in the center of a table as a centerpiece.

Display photos of children taken before the party, or cut out images of people from magazines. Hang them on one of the walls and write "Assignments" on a piece of poster board and display it above the pictures.

Display posters of spies from famous spy movies, James Bond and Mission Impossible, for example.
