Keeping your houshold clothing organized can be important, especially when your children are in school and there is the potential for items to be lost. Whether your child is in grade school or college, labeling their clothing permanently can help them keep track of what's theirs. Iron-on labels are a great solution for permanently labeling your clothing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Iron-on labels
  • Iron

Iron-On Labels

Step1
Make sure that the area in which the label will be placed is free of dirt and grime.
Step2
Place the garment on a flat surface that can withstand high temperatures. Turn the iron on the "cotton" setting with no steam and let it sit upright for 10 minutes to ensure maximum heat.
Step3
Place the label on the desired area and put the iron on top of the label without moving it for about 60 seconds.
Step4
Remove the iron from the garment and give the label a minute to cool off before repeating the process again.
Step5
Take your fingernail and try to peel the label off after the second cooling. If it comes off, that means it didn't get enough heat. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the label stays put.

Tips & Warnings

  • These kinds of labels usually work on all fabrics. It's usually best to place the label on the tag of the garment. This method has a professional and crisp look as opposed to other methods.
  • Be careful if ironing on fleece or wool, as there is the possibility that the fabric could melt.
