How Do Swiffer Dusters Work?

Description

  • Swiffer® Dusters are made by Procter & Gamble. They are handheld dusters made up of thousands of fibers designed to trap dust better than feather dusters or dry dust cloths. They are widely available in supermarkets, department stores or online.

Parts & Assembly

  • The Swiffer® Duster is easily assembled in three steps: (1) Snap the base and handle together. (2) Shake out and fluff up the fiber duster. (3) With the fluffy side down, slide the white sleeves of the fiber duster onto the forks of the base.

Varieties

  • The new Swiffer® 360o Duster features thousands of fluffy fibers in a cylindrical shape. The Swiffer® web site claims it traps up to two times the dust that feather dusters do and it has 50 percent more fibers than regular Swiffer® Dusters. Refills are available for both the Swiffer® Duster and the Swiffer® 360o. Simply keep your handle and buy refills of the fiber dusters in 10 count boxes. The refills are available in scented or unscented. An optional three foot extendable handle is also available.

Uses

  • Use the Swiffer® Duster to safely dust all of the nooks and crannies on baseboards, crown molding, furniture, knick knacks, plants, ceiling fans and electronics.

Ecological Information

  • Unfortunately, the Swiffer® Dusters are not biodegradable or recyclable (see Resources).
