  1. Direct Application of Oil

    • Not all oils can be applied directly to the skin, but lemon verbena oil can be. Rather than diluting the oil by mixing it with other substances, simply pour it into a spritzer or perfume applicator and apply directly to your skin. Test a small area first, however, since some people can have a reaction to lemon verbena oil.

    Oil-Based Perfume

    • Create an oil-based lemon verbena perfume by mixing 10 to 12 drops of lemon verbena oil in about two tsp. of grape seed or jojoba oil. Mix the two thoroughly, and then pour into a clean perfume bottle. Let sit for at least 72 hours to allow the scent to penetrate the grape seed or jojoba oil, and then mix thoroughly again before using.

    Alcohol-Based Perfume

    • For a lighter perfume, make an alcohol-based lemon verbena perfume. Mix about 24 drops of lemon verbena oil with two tsp. of distilled water and two tsp. of vodka. Pour into a clean perfume jar and allow to sit in a cool, dark place for at least 48 hours to allow the scent to infuse itself into the water and alcohol. Mix again before using.
