  • French Cooking in the Classroom

Many culinary institutes offer French cooking classes for both student chefs and food enthusiasts. Non-professional classes are usually conducted in a relaxed atmosphere in which students of all skill levels can participate together to learn how to prepare a few simple dishes. However, certificate program classes are generally categorized into six levels according to their degree of sophistication and difficulty. The first two levels teach students the core principles of French cuisine and the more advanced levels prepare them for working in a real restaurant environment.

  • How to Cook a French Style Steak

Master chef Anthony Bordain calls France a "wonderland of noble rot" because the French specialize in aging everything from chicken to cheese; however, they do not favor aging their red meat. A rich sauce often accompanies French steak, which is not known for being overly tender. When paired with fresh vegetables and a glass of Bordeaux, you will feel like you have captured a taste of Paris in your own kitchen.

  • What Dissolves Non-Stick Coating?

Nonstick coatings are used in a variety of home and industrial applications where lubrication and water resistance are necessary. One of the most common and familiar uses for nonstick coatings is in cookware, where the material is applied for its ability to efficiently conduct heat and prevent foods from sticking. However, under the right conditions, nonstick coatings can break down and lose effectiveness.

  • French Cooking Words

English is suffused with French vocabulary (for example, even the words "suffuse" and "vocabulary" are French in origin). Ordinary English cooking terms, such as "restaurant," "cuisine," "entrée," "saute" and "dessert" are derived from the French. There is also a more specialized set of cooking terms that originated in the French culinary vocabulary. This is thanks to the dominant role France has played in developing fine cuisine in the western world.

  • What is T-Fal?

Most residential kitchens house a non-stick pan or two. As ubiquitous as they are, it's easy to forget that these useful tools were invented just over 50 years ago. TeFal, commonly known as "T-Fal," was the original non-stick cookware manufacturer. Not only have they improved and expanded non-stick technology, they have also added other useful kitchen tools to their product line. Today, T-Fal is the leading manufacturer of non-stick cookware in the world.
