How Do I Remove Transfer Iron Ons?

Some iron-on transfers can be removed, but the results aren't always perfect, depending on the fabric of the clothing and the materials in the transfer. Removal methods include applying heat, alcohol and packing tape or manually picking off the transfer. Sometimes using more than one method is effective.

Peeling It Off

Sometimes a transfer can be removed if you first swab the inside of the garment with something to dissolve the glue, according to MadeMan.com. Use rubbing alcohol or automotive brake parts cleaner. Then try peeling off the transfer.

Heat

Cover the transfer with parchment paper and iron it. This may dissolve the adhesive enough to allow you to take off the transfer with tweezers. The glue, however, may remain behind. If so, apply rubbing alcohol to dissolve it.

Tape

Apply clear packing tape to the transfer and apply hard pressure with a fingernail or something that will thoroughly flatten the tape on the design. The idea is to have the tape stick hard enough so it will bring up the transfer when you can peel off the tape. Then you can pick off whatever pieces are left behind.
