  1. Appearance

    • Zucchini have a long, slender shape with green color. Yellow squash come in two varieties, crookneck and straightneck. Both have a light yellow color, and the top of the crookneck squash curves to a slender point.

    Flavor

    • Yellow squash can have a slightly sweeter flavor than zucchini, especially when not fully ripe. The slightly firmer flesh of a zucchini gives it a fuller and stronger flavor.

    Texture

    • The texture of a yellow squash is slightly more watery than the firmer flesh of a zucchini. Both have an off-white color flesh that holds up well to slicing.

    Benefits

    • Both zucchini and yellow squash have high levels of vitamin C, magnesium, vitamin A and fiber. They also have few calories per serving and are easy to prepare.
