The Ral color system, is actually a series of systems used to match colors predominantly in paint. This system will assist you when choosing paints for your next home or office project.
The system originated in Germany in 1927, the German Imperial Commission for Delivery Terms and Quality Assurance approved it. This system established a common language for color.
The aim of the Ral system was to end the mix-ups that can happen when mixing, and matching colors. It established a basic system of four digits to analyze the colors.
The system began with 40 standard colors, it now encompasses over 1,898 colors. Now, the system is actually three systems, Ral effect, Ral Classic and Ral Design.
The Ral systems are different for each series. In the classic system are just broad and general. In the design system each of the three numbers have a scientific basis.
The first number in the design system numbers stands for the hue of the color. The second number stands for the lightness. The last number stands for the chroma.
