What Are the Treatments for Hair Damaged by Flat Irons?

Masks
-
Use a hair mask for deep conditioning. Blend two or three eggs with one teaspoon of water for each egg. Make enough of the mixture to cover the hair. Saturate the hair and wrap it in plastic for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.
Supplements
-
Take supplements that provide an internal boost of ingredients for hair growth and health. Most drugstores provide at least one variety of supplements labeled for hair, nail and skin health. Biotin is known for promoting healthy hair.
-
Rinse
-
Create a honey rinse to restore shine. Shampoo as usual and then rinse with a teaspoon of honey dissolved in four cups of water.
Considerations
-
Give hair a rest from harsh styling implements such as blow dryers and irons. Do not undergo chemical styling treatments such as perms or coloring until hair is restored to health.
Prevention/Solution
-
Shampoo and condition the hair prior to styling with a flat iron. If a flat iron is used on hair that still has styling products built up in it, severe damage may result.
