History
-
The first Necchi sewing machine appeared in 1919 in the town of Pavia, Italy. Over the next 10 years, models were produced to increase the speed and add new stitches over the standard straight stitch. The Supernova model was released after World War II and incorporated several intricate stitches. The Necchi Mirella is the only model of sewing machine at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York to earn a permanent display. Allyn International is the sole U.S. importer of Necchi sewing machines, and they are available for purchase through independent dealers nationwide.
Identification
-
All Necchi products have a sleek appearance in a white metal alloy body with a carrying case. The sewing machines each include an extension table for added support when working on large objects. They also include a free arm for sewing in small areas such as shirtsleeves.

Types
-
Necchi sewing machines are available in three basic types, a standard sewing machine, a quilting machine and a sewing machine with surger.
Features
-
The five models of Necchi sewing machines have from 15 to 30 decorative stitches included. Their quilting machine models have 20 to 28 deluxe stitches for easy variation in quilting. Most models of all types include several features that save time in your work. These include a one-touch buttonhole attachment and presser feet, which pop on easily to change them. A see-through design in the machines allows viewing of the thread, and each has a storage compartment for additional threads and bobbins. There is an instruction panel in the top for easy access to thread tension, stitch length and presser foot recommendations. This simplifies the process for beginners. Instant reverse levers, quilter's guides and thread cutters are also standard on Necchi sewing machines. The quilting machines include a free darning and free-form presser foot. Automatic bobbin winders are included to cut off automatically when the bobbin is full.
Warranty
-
All Necchi products carry a 25-year limited warranty. Service and parts are available from dealers.
