Donuts are a major comfort food. What do you do, when you get a craving for them late at night? If you scour the city you live in, you may find a leftover donut in an all night market. If that doesn’t sound so appealing, try some of these ideas for a fast way to make donuts.

These fast ways to make donuts may not be that healthy, but when you have a craving that needs to be satisfied, they will do in a pinch. Open a can of refrigerator biscuits and poke a hole in each of the biscuits. Heat an inch or two of oil in a deep pan or pot to about 375 degrees F. Drop the biscuits in. Turn them when they are golden brown on the underside. Mix some brown sugar, white sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag. Plop the finished donuts in the bag and shake to coat them.
Use biscuit mix to make a thick dough. Dust your bread board with flour. Roll a ball of dough into a thick worm-shape and press the ends together to form a donut. Cook as instructed above. Dust with powdered sugar. This recipe will work with pancake mix, also.
You’ll love this fast donut recipe from scratch. It will give you real donut flavor with a minimal amount of ingredients. Mix 2 cups flour, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 heaping teaspoons baking powder and 1 cup water in a large mixing bowl. Cover the bowl with a thin kitchen towel and let sit for 20 minutes. Pull off a small ball of dough, about the size of a large egg, and flatten it on a flour covered area. Make a hole in the middle and fry it in a deep pan of hot oil or a deep fryer. Make a glaze out of powdered sugar and water, drizzle it over the warm donuts.
Choose any flavor cake mix you like. Pour the cake mix into a large mixing bowl, along with ½ cup flour, 4 beaten eggs and 1¼ cups water. Beat the mixture until all of the lumps are gone. Drop the cake mix batter, serving spoon size, into a pan of hot oil. Turn the donuts when they are golden on the bottom, then remove and cool. Roll them in sugar and serve.
