Hi, I'm Hillary Talbott, acupuncture physician and clinical herbalist. Today, I will be showing you points that comprise the Tapas Technique. Now, the Tapas Technique is named after a man that invented the acupressure technique named Tapas Fleming in the early '90s. It's a controversial complementary therapy designed to kind of clear the energetic balance, or root cause of emotional trauma and it's pretty simple. All you need are both of your hands to do this. So, our model today is going to demonstrate how easy it is to do on yourself. You're going to take your dominate thumb and ring finger, and you're going to place them in the corners of your eye at a Point Bladder 1, and then your middle finger is going to come down to Yin Tong, the point just in between the eyebrows. Your non-dominant hand is going to slide under your head, under to the occiput or Du 16, and then you're going to lay down and relax comfortably. Now, it's suggested that you relax for about 20 minutes at a time, but I find even a couple minutes of this procedure while focusing on the underlying emotional cause of your distress and framing it in a positive light, even for a couple minutes, can help to kind of clear this energetic imbalance that can lead to pathological, physical causes of disease. So, I encourage you to give this a try at home next time you're feeling unsettled. I'm Hillary Talbott, and that was acupressure using the Tapas Technique.
