Hello, my name is Joshua Clement, with Lighty contractors. And today, we'll be discussing how to remove a shower reducing valve, and a shower fixture. Shower fixtures, such as this one, have a pressure reducing valve, or water saver, in them. I'm going to show you how to take that out. For this job, you're going to need a couple tools: A standard pair of pliers, some plumber or Teflon tape, you also need a pair of snub nose or needle nose pliers. First thing you want to do, is take your regular pair of pliers, and remove the shower head. Since this shower fixture's made of plastic, you want to be careful not to strip it. And, there you have the shower head off. Now, what you're going to do is flip it around where the water actually goes into the shower head. Now, in this particular shower head, the valve is right here. You can see that it's flat, so you can grab it with your snub nose, or needle nose pliers, and twist it counterclockwise. There's your pressure reducing valve. What you're going to want to do is take the washer, and place it back into the hole. Make sure that the washer is firmly placed past the threads. Now, we're going to take some Teflon tape, and re-tape our threads here. Now, place the plumber's tape on the thread, and wrap it clockwise around the threads, until they are thoroughly covered. Now, place the shower fixture back into position, and tighten it up. With your standard pair or pliers, go ahead and give it one last little snug.
