Hi, my name is Katherine Eid. You can check out my blog with recipes and information at Thebeanpost.wordpress.com. Today, I'm going to show you how to make black sesame seed paste. When you buy this at the store, it's traditionally made from sesame seeds that have been hulled and a lot of their fiber is gone so the benefit of making it here is that we can use whole sesame seeds with their husks still on and we're going to use some sesame oil. If this sesame paste is used in a dessert, you can use equal parts black sesame seed and honey. Today I'm going to show you a savory version using this sesame oil here. I have some sesame seeds here in the blender. We're just going to start with about a tablespoon of sesame oil and as we blend we can add more as needed. Keep in mind this same recipe can be used with white sesame seeds to make traditional middle eastern tahini butter. So we've just grinded our roasted black sesame seeds and we've got a pretty good paste going on. This is about the consistency that we're looking for. If it gets too liquidy, you can always add more seeds and if it's not liquidy enough, a little more sesame oil will help that. And that's how we make black sesame seed paste in its savory version.
